I turn creative ambition into reality - through production, strategy and governance
Vision
I work at the crossroads of culture, storytelling and change - helping artists and organizations drive transformation through compelling narratives.
I'm currently available for consulting engagements, interim executive roles, and board positions. Whether you need strategic guidance through organizational transition, help designing a new fund, or governance leadership, I bring two decades of experience turning creative ambition into sustainable reality.
Biography
Uzma Hasan is a producer, cultural strategist and boardroom changemaker who works across film, TV and theatre. For two decades, she has collaborated with artists, institutions and investors to translate creative ambition into real-world outcomes, driving transformation at the intersection of culture and commerce.
Uzma has built a globally recognized portfolio career. She is currently Chair of the Bush Theatre in London, an acclaimed new writing venue whose mission is to 'disrupt the canon'. She served as Interim CEO of Ffilm Cymru Wales, leading the national public funding body through financial and corporate restructure during a critical leadership transition. As founder of Little House Productions, a VC-backed production company, she secured $400K in seed capital and delivered four feature films. Uzma advises cultural institutions internationally on strategy, governance, and fundraising. She has worked with Doha Film Institute - where she led the international film fund, deploying $25M in equity investments, Eurimages, and the International Film Festival Rotterdam, where she launched the Displacement Film Fund with UNHCR and actor Cate Blanchett. She leverages her expertise to steer organizations through transformative shifts in leadership, identity, and financial resilience.
An award-winning film producer, Uzma's most recent feature CREATURE is directed by Academy Award winner Asif Kapadia (AMY) in a genre-defying collaboration with Olivier Award-winning choreographer Akram Khan (DESH). Previous work includes FIRSTBORN (Netflix) and THE INFIDEL, a hit comedy that inspired both a stage musical and Bollywood remake DHARAM SANKAT MEIN.
Her governance expertise spans public and private sectors: from trustee roles at Birds Eye View, a nonprofit championing women in film, to making history as the first global majority board member of Channel 4, Britain's culture-shaping public broadcaster - an appointment made by the Prime Minister. She has served on juries and selection committees for BAFTA, the British Independent Film Awards, and Film London.
An alumna of Harvard University's Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, she studied Film and Literature as a Kennedy Scholar. Based in New York, she lives with her husband, son, their dog Lucy and Siberian forest cat Sikander Jaan.
